We are spoilt for choice here in Marlborough, New Zealand, with so many picture-perfect spots to enjoy a picnic

If you're a local, or visiting Marlborough for the wine or the scenery, there are so many places to take in the views and enjoy some local food and wine.

We've pulled together a list of our favourite Marlborough picnic spots which are just as good in winter as they are in summer.

Here's our picks 👇🏽

1️⃣ Picton Water Front - relax on the beautiful grass area beside the beach, with views into the Sounds! There's even a playground if you want to bring the family. If you don't feel like packing a picnic, there are lots of local food options. One of our favourites is @toastiepicton

2️⃣ Pelorus River - there's plenty of stunning walking tracks along this crystal clear river, so pack your hiking shoes and work up an appetite. Afterwards, relax by the river, you can even take a dip in the popular swimming hole at Pelorus Bridge. Only an hours' drive from Blenheim. If you've got time on the way, call into @millsbaymussels to try a local delicacy.

3️⃣ Governors Bay - just over the hill from Picton and only 40mins from Blenheim, you'll find this hidden bay on the Queen Charlotte Drive. A short walk leads you to a beautiful golden beach surrounded by lush native bush, and great for swimming.

4️⃣ Wither Hills Farm Park - these hills are an iconic backdrop to Blenheim. The farm park is a favourite with locals, complete with hiking tracks and mountain bike park. There is plenty of room to find a private picnic spot and enjoy the views over Marlborough. Be sure to pick up something up from @eatatsammies on your way out of town.

5️⃣ St Arnaud, Lake Rotoiti - if you're up for a short road trip, 90 minutes from Blenheim and heading into the Tasman region, you will find the alpine lakes. An outdoor playground, complete with @rainbowskiarea, hiking and biking tracks.
